From the Palace of a Princely State
A Poem
The cool winds touch me,
They give wings to my hair;
The ripples in the water,
They soothe my eyes.
Sitting on a cool bench,
In front of a lake,
I dream of climbing,
The fairway mountains,
Of brown and green.
The yellow leaves of the fall
Call me out.
They ask to experience flight with them,
As they leave their humble abode
And are carried by the winds
To lands unbeknownst.
The chirping birds,
Tell me tales of their travels,
And ask me to join them,
As they go far and high.
Lost as I am,
In the present nature and forests,
In the memories of the past,
And in the dreams of the future,
The sound of a passing car,
Reminds me of the home
I need to be near,
Where my child, my husband
And my family await me.
So, I cycle my way,
With renewed gust,
To reunite once again,
With the ones I love.
Bye-bye oh lovely lake
Bye-bye oh sweet birds
I go with a smile,
And happy memories,
Of this lake by the palace
With crocodiles in it.
